"There is much to tell about me, but my lawyer says it's best to keep quiet about my past. I can tell you that I didn't have enough cash to fulfill my fantasy of buying a Sbarro franchise, so I scraped up enough dough to open an authentic taqueria/cantina on Folly Beach. I named it Taco Boy and we serve really, really, really tasty tacos, nachos and more. Fun margaritas and special Tequila flights, too. My motto is "Skip Siesta, Let's Fiesta." People like that. And now I have two Taco Boys with a third on the way. Come visit one!"
Karalee Nielsen Fallert founded the original Taco Boy on Folly Beach in 2006, then the downtown Charleston location in 2009. Longtime Operations Manager, April Bennett became a partner in 2017 and the two began hatching plans for the third location which will open in Summerville, SC, in late 2018.
All of the Taco Boy restaurants are designed with festive décor that is meticulously sourced on research trips to Mexico. The most recent trip proved to be a gold mine when the group finally found an authentic tortilla maker – realizing the dream of making fresh tortillas in house.
Taco Boy loves to be involved and focus on the local community, championing issues that help children such as Darkness to Light and The Green Heart Project. In lieu of advertising, Taco Boy is a primary underwriter for the Green Heart Project. Taco Boy also strongly believes in and promotes initiatives that inspire and incentivize the staff to grow from within.
